Welcome everyone to the 115th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the Stormtrooper white HK P7 was a hot gat.
At this time the original auction remains up with six days left to bid. The current bid on the P7 (at the time of this writing) is $1,814 with No Reserve. We wish this P7 a safe journey to its new home in the very near future.
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a Revolution-themed 1911 from Auto-Ordnance. As is tradition, this freedom-inspired gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $1,124.99 Buy It Now.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP?
Founding Fathers or Lord of the Fudds?
Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:
“If your guiding lights are the 2nd Amendment and horror vacui…” – Giorgio O.
“Benjamin Franklin isn’t the only one smirking at this 1911” – Rusty S.
I mean this one is pretty tasteful compared to some we’ve seen… It’s the best looking 1911 with the Liberty Bell on it I’ve seen this week.
Selling this liberty-inspired gat is GunBroker seller DBLLC2018, located in Asheboro NC. Let’s see what they had to say about this Auto-Ordnance Revolution Special 1911.

The HGFC series usually doesn’t feature guns straight from the factory. With that said, there are times where exceptions need to be made, and this is certainly one of them. Quite a few freedom-inspired firearms have been featured here on HGFC, but this is something else entirely.
It takes careful artistry to properly draw, tattoo, or engrave faces that do justice to the original. This gun lands safely in the “I’m not sure how to feel about this” category with Thomas Jefferson looking like he’s certainly up to no good.
This gun represents a surreal over-the-top tribute to the founding fathers. I like how “Liberty or Death” is engraved at the front of the slide, and then “Give me Liberty or Give me Death” is engraved about two inches away. You know, in case you didn’t get the message the first time. Auto-Ordinance certainly knows how to convey a message.
So is $1,249.99 a deal when it comes to revolution-themed factory 1911’s? Or is this something you’d simply raise an eyebrow at when spotted at your local gun store? As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
What do you think? Is this factory founding fathers themed 1911 a Hot Gat or some over engraved outdated Fudd Crap? Be sure to let us know in the comments below, and cast your vote to let us know if this Auto-Ordnance Revolution Special 1911 is a Hot Gat or Fudd Crap:
