Modern Lever-Action PCC by British Southern Gun Company

Category: Firearms

Combining modern firearm designs and layouts with a lever-action mechanism always results in some of the most unusual hybrids of the firearms world. We’ve earlier seen a couple of such guns – the Red Ryd-AR, a lever-action AR-15 made by American BrickWurX Manufacturing, and the belt-fed bullpup lever-action rifle designed by British ADF Projects and Designs. Today we’ll travel across the pond again to take a look at another such firearm – the 9mm lever-action carbine recently introduced by the British Southern Gun Company (SGC).

Lever-Action Rifles @ TFB:

Unlike the other two frankenleverguns, this 9mm lever-action carbine is actually a commercially available product and is currently listed on the website of Southern Gun Company. In fact, this lever-action PCC should be quite an interesting offering on the British civilian market because centerfire semi-auto and even pump-action rifles are prohibited in the UK. A popular manual repeating action type used in AR-style guns in the UK is the straight-pull action. The advantage of lever-action over straight-pull is that it is a much faster action.

The Southern Gun Company 9mm lever-action carbine features 7075 T6 aluminum receivers. The bolt has a built-in tilting locking block that locks into a steel insert in the upper receiver. A pair of lever extension arms located in the area behind the magazine well cycle the action when the lever loop is worked. This PCC is fed from Glock magazines of 17-round or higher capacity. The lever has a pretty short stroke and as seen in the above-embedded video, it works with the long rearward-swept 32-round Glock magazine. The lower receiver is assembled with SGC trigger mechanism components and is fitted with an AR receiver extension, Magpul MOE pistol grip and Magpul CTR stock. The gun also features a threaded stainless steel barrel and an M-LOK handguard.
