POTD: His Majesty The King’s Guard with HK416N

Category: Firearms

Photo Of The Day: Soldier from His Majesty The King’s Guard standing in front of the Storting, the Norwegian Parlament, during the opening of the 166:th Storting. They are carrying the Heckler & Koch HK416N with Aimpoint sights, made for Norway. It seems they are using a shorter magazine than the regular army, and it looks like the outside of the barrel most likely got more cleaning than the inside.

The “N” actually stands for Normal, not Norway as one might think. There are also versions called HK416K (K- for Short) and the HK416S for Sharpshooter, which is a specialized designated marksman version.
